γ-free Si(Li) detector for ISOL
Description
A γ-free detector system, which consists of a proportional counter and a Si(Li) detector as a counter telescope, has been constructed and tested. The proportional counter used is of pure methane gas (CH4) of one atm. With the present detector system the Compton edge was reduced to be order of 10-3 in the case of 206207Bi. Two quanta escape pair peaks were also found to disappear in the test experiment of 56Co
