Identification of intermetallic phases in a eutectic Al-Si casting alloy using electron backscatter diffraction pattern analysis

Description
Intermetallic phases in sand cast eutectic Al-Si alloys were characterized using a combination of SEM, EDS and EBSD pattern analysis. Chinese script α-phase particles were consistent with cubic Al19(Fe,Mn)5Si2. Plate-shaped β-phase particles were consistent with tetragonal Al3(Fe,Mn)Si2
