LiF Radiothermoluminescent Dosimeters Which Can Be Reused Without Regeneration

  • 1. CEA, Centre d'études Nucléaires de Fontenay-aux-Roses (France)

Description

The lithium fluoride now available commercially possesses very valuable properties for radiological safety measurements and it would be of interest to use it for routine measurements. Its use does, however, give rise to problems, firstly due to the instability of the traps located close to the surface and secondly as the material has to be regenerated after each reading. A process has been developed for producing lithium fluoride which is free of this defect and which can be reused a considerable number of times without any appreciable alteration in its properties. The authors used it, in particular, for the production of sintered pellets which lend themselves for use in large series of measurements. The sintering procedure developed for economic production on an industrial scale is described and the essential characteristics are given. (author)

Abstract (French)

(author)
