Researches with the synchrotron Saturne I. Chapter 5

Description

The technical studies on the 3.8GeV/c analyser for Saturne II, the modifications on SPES I spectrometer, the starting up of SPES II facility are presented. In electronics, the extension of the use of hybrid microelectronic techniques in nuclear instrumentation, the new CAMAC modules for computer peripherals and the beam monitoring are described. The attempts to obtain polarized protons and deuterons at Saturne, the utilization of channel plates for fast time picking, the minimum ionizing particle detection by use of secondary electron emission and the testing by nuclear scattering radiography have been also studied

Abstract (French)

On presente les etudes techniques sur l'analyseur de 3,8GeV/c de Saturne II, les modifications du spectrometre SPES I et la mise au point de SPES II. En electronique on decrit l'extension de l'emploi des techniques microelectroniques hybrides dans l'instrumentation nucleaire, les nouveaux modules CAMAC pour peripheriques de calculateur et le monitorage de faisceaux. Les essais d'utilisation de protons et deutons polarises a Saturne, la prise de temps rapide par microcanaux utilisant l'emission secondaire, la detection de particules au minimum d'ionisation par emission d'electrons secondaires et les essais de radiographie par diffusion nucleaire ont aussi ete etudies
