Effect of operating conditions on the properties of 14Kh17N2 steel

  • 1. Skoda, Plzen (Czechoslovakia). Zavod Energeticke Strojirenstvi

Description

Tests gave evidence that bar-shaped half-finished products made of the 14Kh17N2 steel possess a very low notch toughness in the transversal direction, particularly at high delta-ferrite contents, and no improvement can be achieved by additional heat treatment. A high susceptibility to radiation embrittlement was also observed. High radiation hardening values were attained; for the most exposed parts the hardness increased to a double.
