Compact fusion reactors availability analysis

Description

Compact fusion reactor maintenance approach was identified, and schedule maintenance downtime analysis was performed for d-t and d-d-fueled Compact Reversed-Field Pinch Reactors (CRFPR). The results were then compared against each other, as well as against the conventional tokamak reactor design (STARFIRE). The results indicate that the d-t/CRFPR design may realize a 20 percent increase in availability over the conventional design. This increase is attributed primarily to the ability of the compact reactor power core to be replaced as an integral unit as opposed to the power core sector disassembly requirements inherent in the conventional design
