Connection for pulse feeding of the betatron electromagnet

Description
The novel design enables the mean radiant power of the accelerator to be increased and thermal losses in the electromagnet to be reduced. Time lags can be generated between the current pulses of the electromagnet to suppress spurious oscillations, the function of the accelerator being independent of the supply frequency. The connection comprises a two-way controlled rectifier with the first and second switching elements with a breaking circuit, and a third and fourth switching elements. A capacitor is connected at the rectifier input, the betatron electromagnet at the output. The capacitor is charged from a low-voltage supply. A dc power supply is connected in the branch of the third switching element and/or the fourth switching element. (M.D.)
