The solid state proportional counter of an organic insulator
Creators
Description
The conduction of holes in a fluorocarbon polymer film was studied under the condition of irradiation of alpha-particles emitted from 241Am. Pulsed currents were observed from the film under an electric field above 8 x 104 V/cm in the presence of He atoms in the film. The dependence of the current on applied voltage was reproduced by the formula exp[a(V-Vsub(t))] as the multiplication factor for a parallel-plate proportional counter. The hole mobility was determined to be 1.0 x 10-2 cm2/V x s. (orig.)
