A seminar on the Irish Sea

Description

A two hour seminar was held to bring together a wide range of interests from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic to discuss the Irish Sea. At least forty people attended, many of whom spoke briefly on topics grouped under headings: Life and Living Resources (fish, birds, seals etc), Uses and Threats (seabed geology, fronts, turbidity etc), Research and Monitoring (environmental protection, radiation monitoring), Legal Instruments and Government Action. This is a verbatim report of the seminar proceedings. There is an Appendix with a written submission from Greenpeace about contamination from the Sellafield reprocessing plant. (U.K.)
