Theory of collective motion in nuclei on orbits of the symplectic group
Description
A geometric interpretation of collective dynamics is developed from the assumption that the collective Hamiltonian has the symmetry group O(n,IR). The phase and state spaces of the A-body system are decomposed with respect to the O(n,IR)-action into orbits and a transversal which is not affected by this group. The collective dynamics is shown to proceed on this transversal which is identified as a coset space of the collective symplectic group Sp(6,IR). (author)
