γ-irradiation effect on optical losses of multicomponent cerium glasses of high purity
Description
Radiation stability of high-purity glasses, absorption of which in the range of 1.77 eV does not exceed several tens of dB/rm, as well as cerium oxide influence on colour centre formation in the glasses, were studied. The studied multicomponent glasses of increased purity, containing cerium, possess stability to γ-radiation up to the doses of 104-105R and have the total optical losses of ∼ 180-230 dB/km per 1.17 eV. Cerium suppresses formation of intrinsic hole color centres of the glasses subjected to γ-radiation. Dependence of absorption intensity change irradiation dose can be described analytically
