Description

The community of communes Bretagne Romantique has decided to hire a reflection for the creation of a methanization unit on its territory by valuing the surplus of biomass and thus contributing to the overall project of reducing the fossil: energy consumption. A field study was conducted by contacting, either directly or using a questionnaire, the leading actors of biomass production, such as farmers and municipalities of the territory but also neighboring towns. In order to upgrade the products derived from methanization (heat biogas, digestate), a study was conducted in parallel with industries and several municipalities. The results of the study supported the idea that a project of scale was feasible on the sector, as the increase of obligation of purchase in May 2011 and the Energy Performance Plan allow us to consider either the development of a project involving around ten houses in these Structural Surplus Zones, or the implantation of a higher-power digester. Location is still to be defined depending on the area of input production and heat recovery. (author)
