  • 1. Turin Univ. (Italy)

Description

The authors present their results with hyperthermic treatment (alone or associated with radiation therapy) on 43 patients (with a total of 57 sites) treated from September 1983 to August 1985. All patients had recurrent lesion of pretreated malignant tumors. Among these there were brest adenocarcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas of head and neck, melonomas and soft tissue sarcomas. The clinical protocol was: hyperthermia alone (43 degrees centigrade and -45 degrees centigrade during 30 minutes) twice weekly (for a total of 8-10 treatments) or hyperthermia plus radiation therapy (4 Gy/fraction) for a total of 6-8 seances. In summary the response rate (CR + PR) was 80,4% (RT + HT 90% - HT alone 67,5%); the complete response rate was 24,5%
