Fuel assemblies for use in BWR type reactors

  • 1. Nippon Atomic Industry Group Co. Ltd., Tokyo

Description

Purpose: To enable to use recovered uraniums without worsening the local power peaking in a nuclear fuel assembly. Constitution: Fuel pellets prepared by using at least a portion of recovered uranium obtained by the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuels are prepared and a plurality of fuel rods prepared by charging such pellets into fuel cans are arranged in a lattice-like manner to obtain a fuel assembly. In order to compensate the reactivity reduction due to 236U contained in the recovered uranium, the increment of enrichment degree for each of the fuel rods is made such that it is lowered as the enrichment degree for each of the fuel pellets applied with no compensation is lowered.
