Nuclear energy research and development in France

Description
Having described the general organization and main participants in charge of nuclear energy development in France, headed by the C.E.A. since the start of this activity at the end of World War II, the author gives a glimpse of the programmes shared out between four main headings: fundamental research, reactors, fuel cycle and nuclear safety. Two tables sum up the financial means of the C.E.A. in 1981 on the one hand and the personnel strengths on the other. A graph also shows the operational framework of the C.E.A. and its main subsidiaries and participations

Apres avoir presente l'organisation generale et les principaux acteurs charges de developper l'energie nucleaire en France, dont le CEA est a la tete depuis que cette activite a demarre a la fin de la seconde guerre mondiale, l'auteur donne un apercu des programmes qui se repartissent suivant quatre grands themes: la recherche fondamentale, les reacteurs, le cycle du combustible et la surete nucleaire. Deux tableaux resument d'une part, les moyens financiers et, d'autre part, les effectifs du CEA en 1981.
