Optical spectroscopic studies on Pr3+ and Eu3+ in YPO4

Description
YPO4 having a zircon structure with a space group of Dsub(4h)sup(19) and a Dsub(2d) symmetry at rare earth site is reported to form efficient phosphors with rare earth doping. Low temperature absorption fluorescence and excitation spectra of the Pr3+ ion and the X-ray excited optical luminescence spectrum of Eu3+ ion in this lattice are discussed. (K.B.)
