The first hydrogen ecosystems. 2023 - Review of calls for hydrogen ecosystem deployment projects 2018 and 2020

Description

This paper presents an initial assessment of the calls for projects carried out by the French organization ADEME in 2018 and 2020 for the deployment of hydrogen ecosystems. 138 application files were submitted. Their growing number illustrates the acceleration of deployment. The 46 projects selected and financed were selected on the basis of different criteria, including the relevance of the intended uses, the maturity of the projects, economic balance and the effectiveness of the aid per tonne of CO2 avoided. The vast majority of these relate to the transport of people and goods. Support for the deployment of hydrogen ecosystems is established over several years. In the longer term, hydrogen could play an essential role in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050
