Catalysis of radiation-induced hydrogen peroxide chain decomposition and reactions with phosphonic acid

  • 1. Kirov Kazakh Univ. (USSR)

Description

Ti(IV) catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and the reaction with phosphonic acid in 5.30 M H2SO4; kinetic curves have been recorded. The catalysis is due to formation of (TiO2(SO4)2)3- via the reaction HO2 + (TiO2(SO4)2)-2 → H+ + O2 (TiO2(SO4)2)3- and/or H2PO3 + (TiO2(SO4)2)2-H2O → H3PO4 + H+ + (TiO2·(SO4)2)3- correspondingly in the absence and presence of phosphonic acid
