On spraying and collection of charges in a Van de Graaff generator and characteristics of a Van de Graaff generator under pressurized condition

  • 1. Saha Inst. of Nuclear Physics, Calcutta (India)

Description

Investigations have been carried out with a Van de Graaff generator operated in open atmosphere on comb configurations and their geometries for optimization of the charge transport to the high voltage terminal. These studies highlight the basic features of charging and discharging mechanisms of the belt. A suitable configuration with an optimum geometry has been selected to obtain maximum short circuit current of 120μA with an efficiency of 75%. (author)
