Readiness review program for near-term operating licenses
Description
At Carolina Power and Light Company's (CP and L's) Shearon Harris nuclear plant, a Licensing Readiness Review Program has been initiated which focuses management attention on each issue that potentially could delay US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval to load fuel. Managers break down 18 major activities to 66 subactivities, assign milestones and responsibility, and make the Licensing Readiness Review Program a living program, which captures lessons learned and responds to changes in licensing status on the project. Shearon Harris nuclear power plant is a single unit, 900-MW, Westinghouse plant with fuel load scheduled for the summer of 1986. Hot functional testing was initiated in December 1985, and construction was ∼ 94% complete in January 1986
