The Phase Transition in Chiral Fluid Dynamics

  • 1. Institut fuer Theoretische Physik Max von Laue-Str. 1, 60459 Frankfurt am Main (Germany)

Description

We present a chiral fluid dynamic model that allows for the dynamic study of the QCD phase transition and of the critical point. The nonequilibrium propagation of the chiral fields influences the fluid dynamic evolution of the quark fluid. This leads to inhomogeneities of the energy density in a discontinuous phase transition. When passing through a critical point the correlation length grows. This could be the basis for signatures of the critical point in heavy ion collisions. (authors)
