Description

To study the isospin part of optical potential, measurements have been made of differential cross-section of the elastic scattering of 0.8 and 9.0 MeV protons for isobars Ti-50 and Cr-50, Fe-54 and Cr-54, Ni-64 and Zn-64. In addition, measurements have been made for isotopes Cr-52 and 53 at the same energies. The angular distributions obtained over the angle range 20 to 160 deg (5 deg a step) are presented in tabular form. The study was made with a linear proton accelerator. A methodical peculiarity of the experiment was that there were two monitors placed symmetrically with respect to each other in the vertical plane of the scattering chamber, which resulted in a considerable reduction of experimental errors due to the migration of the particle beam about the target. The isotopic targets were self-supported foils. Their thicknesses were different and ranged from 1 to 3 mg per cm3 for different isotopes. The enrichment of the main isotope was from 80 to 100% for various targets. Where it was less than 95%, impurity scattering was taken into account. Measurement errors were determined mainly by statistics and amounted to +-3% for each experimental point. It is proposed to make an analysis of the results obtained using the cloudy crystal ball model. The availability of data for three isobars may probably increase the accuracy of the nuclear symmetry variable in terms of the optical potential. The experimental data obtained in the present study are in quite satisfactory agreement with the results of other investigations carried out at similar energies
