Electron microscopy study of α-planar faults, induced by boron in bcc refractory metals

Description

The mean contrast method has been used to investigate α-planar fauls in Mo-0.003% B-0.003% C-0.09% Zr and Cr-0.04 B (wt.%) alloys located in planes (100). Translational vectors < d 01/2 > and < 2d 00 > where the component d approximately 1/6 and is normal to the fault plane are conditioned by extraction of B atoms as mono- and binary layers. The Burgers vector of edged dislocations is egqual to the translational vector R. Fault models in approximation of hard spheres reveal that the faults are, probably, intermediate stage of boride growth
