Electron beam cyclotron resonance in cathode ray tube
Description
A system recording radiofrequency (RF) energy absorption due to the cyclotron resonance of the electron beam in a cathode ray tube is reported. The magnetic field is generated by a Helmholtz coils system supplied by a ramp current generator. An autodyne equipped with a JFET transistor is used to generate RF field and to detect RF absorption. The JFET bias current oscillations serves to sense RF absorption The observed variation of the RF absorption line width as a function of the magnetic field slope sign is discussed
