Analysis of models for hydrogen-antihydrogen oscillations

Description

Various models for hydrogen-antihydrogen (H-H) oscillations are studied, in the context of the standard SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1) theory with enlarged Higgs structures. The ΔB = ΔL = 2 interactions are due to the exchange of scalar bosons that couple to qq or ql channels. The constraints on the masses and couplings of these bosons that follow from the limits to various flavor-changing processes, such as μ→eee-bar and K0-K-bar 0 transitions, are analyzed and the expected H-H oscillation rates are obtained in the various cases. It is found that in two models the oscillation rates can lie within an experimentally interesting range for values of the Yukawa couplings of order α. In the other models, the Yukawa couplings must be of order < or approx. =10-5. Further consequences of the models regarding neutron-antineutron (n-n-bar) oscillations and neutrinoless double-β decay are also examined
