Pseudoaneurysms secondary to pancreatitis. Report of two cases

Pseudoaneurysms secondary to pancreatitis are uncommon but are associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality and thus, should bi diagnosed as early as possible. We present two cases of pseudoaneurysm diagnosed in our hospital in a series of 660 patients who were admitted for treatment of pancreatitis between 1991 and 1994. We show the radiologic images, correlating them with the surgical findings and we compare them with those reported in the literature. We also stress the importance of radiology (ultrasonography, computed tomography and angiography) in the early diagnosis of pseudoaneurysms. (Author) 9 refs
