Nonlinear stationary waves in plasma-beam systems

  • 1. Gosudarstvennyj Komitet po Ispol'zovaniyu Atomnoj Ehnergii SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Atomnoj Ehnergii

Description

As it is known, the electron beam passage through a plasma is accompanied by excitation of Langmuir oscillations. Eventually the value of the latter may be so high that different nonlinear processes come into effect which can lead to stabilization of beam instability. Exactly that situation is considered and as proper nonlinear mechanism, plasma density perturbation by RF electric field pressure is chosen. It is shown that in plasma-beam systems the existence of nonlinear stationary waves with the envelope amplitude abrupt drops is possible
