Pelvic varices diagnosed with endorectal surface coil magnetic resonance imaging: case report

Pelvic varices are a well-recognized cause of pain, especially in multiparous women, and are often associated with pelvic congestion syndrome. These dilated veins have been imaged using positive-contrast venography and ultrasonography (US). We present a case of painless pelvic varices that presented as an amorphous, non-specific-appearing parametrial and pericervical mass on computed tomography (CT), but which were diagnosed with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using an endorectal surface coil.
