Regional and applied climatology-contributions
Description
The first three articles of this book, which is dedicated to Wolfgang Weischet, are closely related to his work on unban climatology: - A comprehensive research programme on urban climatology for the example of a medium-sized Swiss town; - A wind tunnel test in preparation of a large-scale urban construction project; - Modelling of human thermal comfort in different urban environments on the basis of comprehensive data sets of geofactors. At the same time, they provide a survey of the status and methods of modern urban climate research. The second group of contributions comprises texts which discuss the effects of individual climate elements in the biosphere and pedosphere. The third group consists of two contributions on the stability of tropical environments. Both of them discuss the semiarid regions of northern Kenia. Finally, there is a group of contributions stimulated and influenced by W. Weischet's work in Latin America. (orig./KW)
Abstract (German)
Die ersten drei Beitraege des Wolfgang Weischet gewidmeten Bandes stehen in enger Beziehung zu seinen stadtklimatologischen Arbeiten. Es handelt sich um -ein umfassendes stadtklimatologisches Forschungsprogramm am Beispiel einer Schweizer Mittelstadt, - eine Windkanaluntersuchung zur Vorbereitung einer groesseren staedtischen Baumassnahme und - die Modellierung des thermischen Befindens des Menschen in verschiedenen staedtischen Milieus auf der Basis flaechendeckender Datensaetze der Geofaktoren. Sie geben gleichzeitig einen Ueberblick ueber den Stand und die Arbeitsmethoden moderner Stadtklimaforschung. In einer zweiten Gruppe stehen Texte, die sich an Beispielen aus Mitteleuropa mit der Wirkung einzelner Klimaelemente in der Bio-und Pedosphaere auseinandersetzen. Einen dritten Block bilden zwei Aufsaetze zum Themenkreis der Tragfaehigkeit tropischer Lebensraeume. Beide sind angesiedelt in den semiariden Landschaften Nordkenias. Den Abschluss bilden Beitraege, die von den Arbeiten W. Weischets in Lateinamerika angeregt und beeinflusst wurden. (orig./KW)Additional details
