Sorption separation of platinum from daughter radionuclide gold-199

  • 1. AN RU, Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

The possibility of obtaining platinum-199 from platinum irradiated by neutrons from nuclear reactor was investigated. The main admixture here is gold-199. Platinum-199 is extracted with the help of aluminium oxide sorbent. Gold-199 was separated from irradiated platinum by transferring it into chloride complex with successive extraction from hydrochloric acid solution. The radiochemical purity was checked by measuring gamma-spectra. (A.A.D.)
