Description
The polarization and correlation contributions to the single-particle energies of neutrons and protons in 208Pb are evaluated by using the dispersion relation approach developed in a previous paper. One test of the meaningfulness of the approach is proposed and applied. Several comparisons with empirical data are performed and turn out to be satisfactory on the average. (orig.)
