Analysis of uranium in urine by radiometry

  • 1. National Atomic Energy Agency, Jakarta (Indonesia). Nuclear Fuel Element Development Centre

Description

Uranium analysis in urine has been carried out by radiometry technique. The aim of the experiment was to find the optimum condition for its separation. The uranium was separated from urine sample by ion exchange column resin and then preplated on an electrode in an electrodeposition cell. The electroplated uranium was counted using alpha spectrometry equipped with Si- surface barrier detector. The results of the experiment showed insignificant differences in activity of the samples obtained by introducing concentred HCl and H2O2 30% for uranium separation using ion exchange column resin. The efficiency of chemical separation varied from 44.72 to 75.08%. (author). 4 refs, 2 tabs
