Optimization of the microstructure of low-temperature combustion-synthesized barium ferrite powder

Description
BaFe12O19 ferrite powder was prepared by calcining a precursor under given conditions. The precursor was obtained by auto-ignited combustion of a citrate-nitrate gel which is created by a thermally induced redox reaction. The crystalline phase attributes, microstructures, and magnetic properties of the burnt and calcined powders were characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis, transmission electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer. One can optimize structural and magnetic properties by adding chlorides into the precursor followed by mechanical milling and calcination
