Low-temperature radiation hardening of Fe-Cr alloys

Methods of positron annihilation spectroscopy is used to study the processes accumulation and annealing (300-700 K, vacuum) of vacancy defects in Fe-15.7 at.% Cr alloy as well as the effect of these processes on alloy low-temperature hardening at electron irradiation (5 MeV) in 270-370 K temperature range. Tensile tests are carried out during alloy irradiation. It is shown that at the initial stages of irradiation growth of yield strength is a result of vacancy-carbon complexes accumulation. Growth of yield strength with radiation dose increasing is related with rise of three-dimension vacancy clusters density. For alloy irradiated at 370 K possibility of contribution into its hardening of high-chromium phase arising as a result of radiation-accelerated α-α' stratification is considered
Abstract (Russian)
Методом позитронной аннигиляционной спектроскопии исследованы процессы накопления и отжига при 300-700 К в вакууме вакансионных дефектов в сплаве Fe-15.7at.%Cr, а также влияние этих процессов на низкотемпературное упрочнение сплава при электронном облучении (5 МэВ) при температуре 270-370 K. Проведены механические испытания на растяжение в процессе облучения сплава. Показано, что на начальных стадиях облучения прирост предела текучести вызван накоплением вакансионно-углеродных комплексов. С повышением дозы облучения рост предела текучести связывается с увеличением плотности трехмерных вакансионных кластеров. Для сплава, облученного при 370 K, рассмотрена также возможность вклада в его упрочнение высокохромистой фазы, зарождающейся в результате радиационно-ускоренного α-α' расслоенияAdditional details
