Description
An extraction generator for [99mTc] sodium pertechnetate is described. The generator can utilize either carrier-free 99Mo or up to 250g irradiated MoO3 targets. The construction of the prototype generator and the changes done, improving its performance characteristics, are discussed. Special attention is paid to the alumina filter, concerning its influence over the product's yield. Different types of alumina have been studied and the results discussed. The [99mTc] sodium pertechnetate produced has passed the required clinical tests to meet the requirements of the Bulgarian Medical Authorities and has been used in clinics. (author)
