A full-sphere charged particle detector for reaction channel selection
Description
A small full-sphere charged particle detector for reaction channel selection has been developed and tested at Florida State University. The 5.63 cm diameter of this detector allows more solid angle to be covered by high purity Ge detectors in the experimental setup. The charged particle detector consists of ten phoswich E-ΔE telescopes. Since the signals from the ΔE and E detector use the same photo-multiplier tube, a method of decoupling the signals in real time has been used. Particle γ coincidence tests of the detector using the p+ 27Al reaction and the 19F + 58Ni reaction (both provided by the Florida State Tandem-LINAC facility) have proven successful. The detector has provided identification of γ rays from 82Y and helped identify transitions in 71As
