Description

Permissible levels of heat release at local pulse heating the superconducting winding have been determined for superconducting dipole magnets of ''window frame'' type. Dynamics of temperature field in the winding has been identified by thermometer readings. Measurements of permissible heat release have been conducted at direct transport current in the magnet winding. Calculation of temperature fields in the winding has been exercised by the simulation method for heat transfer processes using a set of one-dimensional equations of thermal conductivity for layers into which the calculated range was divided. Satisfactory agreement of the calculated and experimental data permits to apply the developed calculating technique for determination of extreme radiation heat release in the magnet arising due to 1 GeV proton losses
