Tumouraffine 67Ga-application and clinical importance in the diagnosis of bronchial carcinomas

Description
Scintiscanning with tumour-affine 62Ga is a simple method of examination without discomfort to the patient. 67Ga has a good fixation power in bronchial carcinomas. At the beginning of the treatment, scintiscanning serves to determine the dimensions of the primary neoplasm and at the same time to detect metastases. The 67Ga affinity, which is a function of the degree of vitalisation of the tumour, can be helpful in checking the effectivity of a radiotherapy or chemotherapy after the termination of a tumour-specific treatment. In the following stages of the disease, scintiscanning with 67Ga can be a valuable aid in deciding the question 'recurrence of a tumour or radiation fibrosis'. The diagnostic limitations of tumour scintiscanning with 67Ga are thus mainly due to its tumour-specific enrichment mechanism. (GSE/AK)

Die Szintigraphie mit tumoraffinem 67Ga ist eine einfache, den Patienten nicht belastende Untersuchung. 67Ga zeigt eine gute Fixationspotenz in Bronchialkarzinomen. Bei Behandlungsbeginn liegt der Wert der Szintigraphie in der Feststellung der Ausdehnung des neoplastischen Primaerprozesses und in der gleichzeitigen Erfassung von Metastasen. Die vom Vitalsationsgrad des Tumors abhaengige Radiogallium-Affinitaet kann nach einer tumorspezifischen Behandlung zur Pruefung der Effektivitaet einer Strahlentherapie oder Chemotherapie herangezogen werden. Im weiteren Krankheitsverlauf kann die Szintigraphie mit 67Ga bei der Frage 'Tumorrezidiv oder Strahlenfibrose' eine wertvolle Entscheidungshilfe sein. Die diagnostischen Grenzen der Tumorszintigraphie mit Gallium liegen somit vor allem im tumorspezifischen Anreicherungsmechanismus. (GSE)
