Perforated grid for a nuclear reactor fuel assembly

Description

For guiding the control and burnable-poison rods there is provided an open grid of joggled plates. This design exposes the ends of the rods and thus permits an essentially improved accessibility for fuel assembly inspections. Fabrication of this design is easier and safer than that of the usual 'spider'-type design. (TK)

Abstract (German)

Fuer die Fuehrung der Regel- und brennbaren Giftstaebe wird ein offenes Gitter aus sich verschraenkenden Platten vorgesehen. Diese Konstruktion legt die Stabenden frei und gestattet somit eine wesentlich bessere Zugaenglichkeit bei BE-Inspektionen. Die Fertigung dieser Konstruktion ist einfacher und sicherer als die Ausfuehrung in Form der gewohnten 'Spinne'. (TK)
