Value of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and cystatin C in evaluation of renal function of patients with urinary calculi

Objective: To investigate the clinical value of 99Tcm-DTPA renal dynamic imaging combined with cystatin C detection in renal function evaluation of patients with urinary calculi. Methods: 62 hospitalized patients based on their medical history and inspection results were divided into urinary calculi group and no kidney disease group. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and cystatin C value were measured by 99Tcm-DTPA renal dynamic imaging and latex enhanced immune turbidimetric method, respectively. Results: There were significant difference on patients GFR and serum cystatin C values between urinary calculi group and no kidney disease group (P < 0.01). The GFR in urinary calculi group were negatively correlated with cystatin C value (r = -0.558, P < 0.001). Conclusion: The combined determination of glomerular filtration rate and cystatin C has an important clinical value in comprehensive and objective analysis of early renal damage caused by kidney stones.
