Pilot nuclear power plant at Kahl - BWR type reactor to be decommissioned - future use as a test object for the dismantling of irradiated buildings

Not long before the decommissioning of the pilot nuclear power plant at Kahl near Aschaffenburg after 25 years of activity and its becoming a test object for the dismantling of irradiated buildings, constructors and operators of the first German nuclear power plant celebrated its relatively undisturbed operation. Reports referring to nearly one hundred reactor accidents as listed by 'Bund fuer Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland' were described as exaggerated. (orig.)

Kurz bevor das Versuchskernkraftwerk Kahl bei Aschaffenburg nach 25 Jahren Aktivitaet abgeschaltet wird und als Testobjekt fuer die Beseitigung bestrahlter Bauwerke dient, feierten Erbauer und Betreiber des ersten deutschen Kernkraftwerkes dessen relativ stoerungsfreien Betrieb. Dabei wurden Meldungen ueber fast 100 Stoerfaelle, wie sie der Bund fuer Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland aufgelistet hat, als uebertrieben bezeichnet. (orig.)Additional details
