Depth-Dose Measurement System for Proton Beam Using PMMA Phantom

Description

Recently, a variety of researches for proton applications have been performed in the fields of nanotechnology, biological technology, information technology, medical science, etc. The energetic proton loses its kinetic energy as it passes through the target material. In this process the large energy loss happens in a very local region before it stops. This property is characterized by Bragg peak. By using the Bragg peak the energetic proton beam can be utilized for cancer therapy or mutation breeding. In order to measure the Bragg peak, a depth-dose measuring system using PMMA phantom was designed and fabricated
