High-voltage electron microscopy study on viscous fracture mechanism of molybdenum monocrystals

Description

The origin and development micromechanism for viscoUs cracks in molybdenum monocrystal microsamples is established. It is shown that crystal geometry of viscous cracks is defined by crystal geometry of dislocation slip. Crack propagation proceeds through local knife-like narrowings formed as a result of slip of dislocations generated on the crack front. The zigzag traectory of viscous crack propagation and possible causes of anomalous slip are explained
