Infrared spectroscopy analysis of europium extraction by 2-ethylhexylphenylphosphonic acid from nitrogen acid media

Description

Infrared spectra of organic solutions have been studied obtained during the europium extraction by 2-ethylhexylphenyphosphonic acid in n-decane from nitrogen acid media. It is found that at the nitric acid concentration up to 4 mole/l infrared spectra of organic phase remain invariable. This indicates the identity of metal and extragent interaction under these acidities. The study of infrared spectra obtained allows to suppose that at the extraction from 8-molar NHO3 solution, nitrate-ions, covalently linked with europium, appear in the extract. Europium interacts with 2-ethylhexylphenylphophonic acid through oxygen of phosphoryl. Besides in infrared spectrum bands have been found which relate to hydrate water and nitric acid molecules
