Description
The effect of irradiation on the characterizations of phenolic-epoxynano-coating was investigated by exposure to gamma-rays and corrosive solution. The corrosion-inhibiting properties of nano-coatings after irradiation exposure were comparatively studied by XPS, TG and measurements of gravimetric variation, contact angleand bonding strength. XPS analysis showed that l.2wt% nano-SiO2 and low dose of irradiation could enhance the resistance of coating to oxidation. The measurements of immersion weight change and thermal weight loss revealed that l.2wt% nano-SiO2 could effectively improve corrosion resistance and heat resistance of coating even after irradiation exposure. The measurement of contact angle and bonding strength demonstrated that gamma irradiation had a small impact on contact angle and adherence of nano-coating. (authors)
