Kinetic method to determine vanadium from the reaction of tiron oxidation by ammonium persulfate
- 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Kolloidnoj Khimii i Khimii Vody
Description
The kinetic method to determine vanadium is suggested. The method is based on the kinetics of tiron oxidation by ammonium persulfate in the phosphoric-acid medium. Optimum conditions for the reaction the effect of complexing agents and interfering elements are studied. Molybdenum whose activity is suppressed by the introduction of the citric acid interferes the catalytic vanadium determination according to the above reaction. Catalytic vanadium activity is conditioned by the formation of a complex with the vanadium tiron ratio of 1:1. The method is used to determine vanadium in the amalgams of alkali metals and ''amalgam oils''. The sensitivity is 2x10-7%, the relative error is +-15%
