The development and performance of the Mitsubishi superconductive magnetic-resonance imaging system

Description
Magnetic-resonance imaging systems employ magnetic resonance to generate cross-sectional images. To convert magnetic-resonance signals to clear cross-sectional images, the Mitsubishi system uses a special radio-frequency transceiver and a superconducting magnet that provides a strong, highly stable and highly uniform static magnetic field. Improvements were also made in image-reconstruction, image-processing, and sequence-configuration techniques. Clinical testing has demonstrated that the system is capable of providing large amounts of data in a highly useful form. The article reports on the system and its performance. (author)
