Multi-group calculations for fast reactors

Description

The paper deals with various causes of error in calculations. The first part sets out the mathematical approximations (diffusion approximation, Sn method, etc.), the numerical resolution methods (effect of integration step), the models used, and the implications of these various factors in the determination of the principal characteristics of a fast neutron reactor. The second part studies the effect on reactivity of variations of element cross-sections, using various fuels, in a reactor of rather hard spectrum. (author)

Abstract (French)

Les auteurs traitent des differentes causes d'erreur dans les calculs de piles rapides. Dans la premiere partie sont exposees les approximations mathematiques (approximation de la diffusion, methode Sn, etc.), les methodes de resolution numerique (influence du pas d'integration), les modeles utilises, et l'incidence de ces differents facteurs sur la determination des principales caracteristiques d'un reacteur a neutrons rapides. La deuxieme partie consiste en l'etude de l'effet sur la reactivite des variations des sections efficaces des elements, dans le cas d'un reacteur a spectre assez dur, avec divers combustibles. Abstract (Spanish)

Los autores estudian las diferentes causas de error en el calculo de los reactores rapidos. En la primera parte de la memoria, exponen las aproximaciones matematicas (aproximacion de la difusion, metodo Sn, etc.), los procedimientos de resolucion numerica (influencia de la etapa de integracion), los modelos utilizados y el efecto de estos factores en la determinacion de las principales caracteristicas de un reactor de neutrones rapidos. En la segunda parte de la memoria, examinan el efecto de lasvariacion es en las secciones eficaces de los elementos sobre la reactividad, en el caso de un reactor de espectro bastante duro, alimentado con diferentes combustibles. V nastoyashchem doklade razbirayutsya razlichnye prichiny, vyzyvayushchie pogreshnosti v raschete reaktorov na bystrykh nejtronakh. V pervoj chasti dayutsya matematicheskie priblizheniya (diffuzionnoe priblizhenie, metod Sn, ... ), metody chislovogo resheniya (vliyanie chisla grupp), ispol'zovavshies ya modeli i vliyanie ehtikh razlichnykh faktorov na opredelenie glavnykh kharakteristik reaktora na bystrykh nejtronakh. Vo vtoroj chasti izuchaetsya vliyanie na reaktivnost' kolebaniya ehffektivnogo secheniya ehlementov s razlichnym toplivom v sluchae reaktora s dovol'no zhestkim spektrom. (author)
