Collision-induced multiple ionization of polyatomic molecules by coincidence measurements of product ions and the number of electrons

  • 1. Kyoto University, Department of Nuclear Engineering, Kyoto (Japan)

Description

Multiple ionization of isolated polyatomic molecules (C2H6 and CH2FCF3) induced by 580-keV C+ impacts have been studied by coincidence measurements of product ions and electrons under charge changing conditions of C+ → Cq+ (q = 0, 2, 3). The degree of multiple ionization was obtained directly from the number of emitted electrons. Mass distributions of product ions and number of emitted electrons were found to change greatly according to the charge-changing conditions. (author)
