Description

The ultrasonic inspection of coarse grained materials is strongly influenced by backscattered ultrasound (grass, coherent noise). The signal to noise ratio becomes as bad that an echo coming up from a defect cannot be surely separated from those from the grass. The actual methods for improving the signal to noise ratio are mentioned, the signal averaging technique is described in detail. (orig.)

Die Ultraschall-Pruefung grobkoerniger Werkstoffe wird durch einen hohen Streuuntergrund (Gras, kohaerentes Rauschen) stark beeinflusst. Das Signal-Rausch-Verhaeltnis ist so schlecht, dass ein Fehlerecho nicht mehr sicher vom Streuuntergrund getrennt werden kann. Die heute benutzten Verfahren zur Verbesserung des Signal-Rausch-Verhaeltnisses werden kurz besprochen, das Signalmittelungsverfahren naeher beschrieben. (orig.)
